Falling Tree Injures Woman In Uniontown

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A woman was injured when high winds caused a tree to topple over in Fayette County this morning.

It happened at a home in the 150-block of Bailey Avenue in Uniontown.

The tree reportedly hit the back of a home.

The woman who was hurt was out walking her dog. She suffered a leg injury and possible more substantial injuries.

"She had a heart attack," said repairman Roy Zack. "I think the ambulance took her to the hospital. Busted the roof ... put a hole in the bathroom and we had to clean it up."

There's no word on her condition.

Trees near a home on Brownfield Road were also snapping like twigs in the winds of up to 65 miles per hour.

One large tree was ripped out of the ground by its roots and the flag pole was nearly sideways.

"It started right around 9-O-clock and then lasted until about 12:30, 1-O-clock," said homeowner Michael George. "I got home from the gym and the flag pole was down and then shortly after that, the tree went down after that."

George just says he's happy the tree didn't hit anything substantial.
