Faith, Business, Community Leaders Band Together To Help Franklin Regional

MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- There's been an outpouring of support in the Murrysville community for Franklin Regional High School and its students since Wednesday stabbing attack that left several with severe injuries.

Now, everyone is coming together to help the young people affected by the tragedy.

Around Murrysville, they're everywhere – signs of support – in all kinds of forms.

On Friday, at a special meeting of faith, business and community leaders, the aim was to put all those words into action.

"After the occurrences on Wednesday, everybody asked why did this happen, and then the second question was what can we do?" said Trista Lucas, the meeting organizer.

Healing through positive ideas for the individuals, obviously, who were hurt in the attack as well as the community as a whole to include a church or faith crawl.

"Getting like limos or buses and just going around to maybe some of the different places in the community or churches and just having fellowship together," said Lucas.

So many businesses have stepped up to help the healing, too, including the Murrysville SportZone Arena. They are proposing an all-skate like no other.

"This Saturday's going to be different," said Christy Manzewitsch, of SportsZone Arena. "We're going to have it free to all Franklin Regional students and staff. We have tons of local food vendors that are donating items to the event and we are just looking to have it be a fun time."

It's one of the many efforts to come out of this meeting of the minds, and hearts.

"They are so loving, the community is just so loving and so close," added Lucas, "and it's going to be amazing to see how they help each other throughout this year."
