Ex-Munhall Borough Manager Accused Of Stealing Money

MUNHALL (KDKA) -- The former borough manager of Munhall is locked up in the Allegheny County Jail, charged with stealing nearly a quarter of a million dollars while in office.

Police arrested 44-year-old Matthew Galla on four counts of theft Tuesday afternoon.

One of his job duties was payroll.

Galla is accused of pocketing the money from 2010 to 2013.

He resigned suddenly in June.

"It's a sigh of relief. We're taking corrective actions. Things are going to get better, and it's going to have a positive outlook on the community," said Harry Faulk, the interim borough manager. "The new borough manager starts in two weeks."

Robert Callen has been appointed the new borough manager.

Meanwhile, Galla was arraigned Tuesday.

He could not post the $100,000 bond, so he was later booked at the county jail.
