Ex-Allegheny College Prof Scheduled For Plea In Porn Case

ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A former award-winning contemporary literature professor is scheduled to forego a trial and enter a plea to federal child pornography charges.

The Erie Times-News reports Friday that 57 -year-old Kirk Nesset is scheduled for a change of plea hearing on April 6.

Terms of a possible plea agreement were not disclosed. Nesset previously pleaded not guilty to charges he distributed, received and possessed child porn.

Nesset resigned from Allegheny College in Meadville after he was arrested Oct. 1. His lawyer did not immediately return a telephone message.

Authorities say a search of Nesset's hard drive revealed thousands of images and movies.

Nesset won the Drue Heinz Literature Prize in 2007 for a collection of short stories called "Paradise Road." It's given annually by the University of Pittsburgh Press.
