Crews Respond To HAZMAT Spill In Millvale

MILLVALE, Pa. (KDKA) - Fire and police were on the scene of a HAZMAT spill in Millvale.

The Millvale Fire Department said Evergreen Road was temporarily closed between Hawthorne Road and Hansen Street on Tuesday.

Police say there was a chemical spill, and crews were on the scene for hours cleaning up. Officials say approximately 100 gallons of oxidizer leaked from the container and went into the sewer system and creek.

Residents in the area were evacuated as a precaution but later returned to their homes. There is no word yet on injuries or what caused the spill.
