Emergency Responders Pull Man From Parkway West Traffic Sign

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Crews were out Saturday morning to retrieve a man who was on a Parkway West traffic sign.

The man somehow was able to climb onto a sign near the Green Tree/Crafton exit and was stuck on a small ledge in front of the sign, hanging over an underpass.

"At that point he was pacing, sitting down, pacing," said witness Will Kass. "The cops started rushing in. There was – traffic started to crawl and everybody noticed him up there and generally looked like the guy was going to commit suicide."

Kass said the man appeared to be in his 20s and seemed flustered.

"It did go on for about three, three-and-a-half hours," he said.

Firefighters had to use a ladder to reach him and pull him down. Kass said they appeared to have one or two negotiators up there as well.

He was later seen being walked away from the scene in handcuffs, but it's unclear if he will face charges.

No word on how he got there in the first place.
