2 Workers Setting Up Signs Struck By Pickup Truck On Route 30

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Emergency crews were called to a pedestrian accident in Westmoreland County Thursday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the accident happened along Route 30 in Hempfield Township around 8 a.m.

According to officials at the scene, workers from Stewart's Fiber and Cable were placing cones and signs along the side of the road. The workers' pickup truck had an arrow sign directing traffic into the other lane.

It appears another pickup truck tried to go around the crew and struck their vehicle

One worker was in the roadway and another was in the bed of the pickup truck that was hit.

Both were struck and flown to a nearby hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

The driver of the other pickup truck was not injured. State police are investigating and there is no word if charges will be filed against the driver.

No other information has been released at this time.
