"Egg-Citement" Building For Hatching Of Hays Eaglets

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The egg-citement is building as local birdwatchers anticipate the hatching of three eaglets in the Pittsburgh's Hays neighborhood.

But it turns out; predicting when an eagle egg will hatch isn't an exact science.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission predicted the first of three eagle eggs would hatch on Wednesday, 35 days after it appeared.

However, now they say it could be a few more days before we see the first eaglet.

"We thought 35 days was a good date for the first egg to hatch, but there is more activity in the nest showing she's getting close now to hatching," said Gary Fujak, of the Game Commission. "But it obviously didn't happen yesterday, and it's not going to happen for a few more days at least."
