Man Rushed To Hospital After East Liberty Shooting

EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) -- A man was rushed to the hospital after a shooting in East Liberty early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. Saturday in the 6300-block of East Liberty Boulevard. Officers were sent to the scene for a ShotSpotter notification that six rounds had been fired in the area.

According to police, four men were in a vehicle that was turning right onto East Liberty Boulevard from Frankstown Avenue. As they made the turn, a group of individuals came out of an opening in a fence near the East Liberty Gardens/Enright Court area. The individuals then walked into the street and approached the median.

Police say the men in the car recognized some of the individuals, and the driver slowed down. One of the individuals in the street then began shooting at the car.

One of the men in the car, a 25-year-old man who was sitting in the back seat behind the driver, was shot near his mouth. He was sent to a local hospital in critical condition.

No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
