East Huntingdon Teen Killed In Route 31 Dump Truck Crash

EAST HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A teenager was killed when his car slammed into a dump truck Saturday afternoon along Route 31 in Westmoreland County.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. in East Huntingdon Township.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office, 18-year-old Brendan Walter of East Huntington was pronounced dead at the scene just before 6:30 p.m.

He died of multiple blunt force injuries, the coroner's office reports.

Officials say Walter was headed west on Route 31 when he lost control of his car on a curve, crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a dump truck.

The coroner's office reports that speed may have played a role in the accident.
