Woman Struck By Bus Along East Busway, Hospitalized

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A young woman was hospitalied after she was struck by a Port Authority bus Monday afternoon near Homewood.

The accident happened around 4:40 p.m. along the East Busway.

Officials say the 19-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk, and when she stepped out in front of 71 East bus, which she thought was parked, it struck her.

The bus was headed outbound on the Busway.

The woman was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.

The bus, which was full of passengers at the time, sustained a cracked windshield.

The accident shut down the East Busway for much of the afternoon.
