Teen Injured In Duquesne Shooting, Detained On Unrelated Warrant

DUQUESNE (KDKA) – A teenager has been detained after being shot in Duquesne Monday night.

The 17-year-old suspect was brought from UPMC Mercy Hospital to the Duquesne Police Department Tuesday morning.

Police say the suspect, who already had a juvenile warrant, is accused of breaking into a home on Clearview Avenue in Duquesne, late Monday night.

Police say a purse and keys were taken from the home.

The homeowner fired several shots, hitting the suspect in his lower body.

Police say the suspect stole a vehicle from the home and drove a short distance before the vehicle went over a hillside.

The suspect then ran away from the scene.

The police chief says the suspect only drove about 50 yards before the vehicle went over a hillside. Duquesne police officers were called to the area where the suspect collapsed.

Police say he could face charges of burglary, receiving stolen property and theft.
