Duquesne Incline Closed Again Due To Bed Bugs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Duquesne Incline is closed once again due to concerns about bed bugs.

The incline is closed Wednesday at 3 p.m. for additional cleaning after bed bugs were first discovered on Monday and again Wednesday afternoon.

KDKA's Lindsay Ward Reports:

Ann Levick lives across the street from the Duquesne Incline, and she and her husband Richard ride it often, but what she says they saw Tuesday was pretty scary.

"I was bit by a couple. I only saw two of them, but everyone was standing there watching them crawl around," she said.

The incline is scheduled to reopen at 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The incline reopened early Tuesday morning after exterminators worked overnight to clear both cars of a bed beg infestation.

The manager of the incline said, after being checked 10 times, they've only found evidence of dead bed bugs.

However, officials did say follow-up treatments would be needed.

The Port Authority is operating a shuttle bus from the upper station on Grandview Avenue to the lower station on West Carson Street.
