Public Works Puts Up Barrier At Broken Fence, Police Investigating

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- As the sun began to rise over the city of Pittsburgh, the Department of Public Works crews carefully placed a jersey barrier in front of the opening where a fence once stood.

Yellow tape is strewn across the opening and part of the fence is on the grassy hillside below.

Police are looking into what happened but said there were no crash reports filed. Public works officials said cars have crashed into the fence before, but it's unclear if that happened this time around.

In the meantime, the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure is looking into replacing the bent and broken frame.

A viewer first tipped off KDKA on Sunday when she noticed part of the fence missing at the intersection of Grandview Avenue and Shaler Street.

That viewer didn't want anyone to get hurt, so she called the non-emergency line. She said she was then told to call 911.
