Mother Of Driver Charged In Shaler Crash That Killed 6-Year-Old Could Also Face Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- KDKA-TV Investigator Marty Griffin has learned that the Allegheny County District Attorney's office is now investigating whether the mother of Travis Grayson gave him alcohol, and if she knew he was drunk when he left their home Saturday night.

The 20-year-old Grayson was driving his Ford mustang when he struck and killed 6-year-old Ava Campbell, on Locust Ridge Drive in Shaler Township.

He allegedly admitted to detectives that he consumed ten beers, and smoke pot at his house in the hours before the fatal accident.

He told police his mother and sister were also home.

Dawn Grayson could face criminal charges, if the DA's office determines she provided him with the alcohol, or, if she knew he was drunk, when he left their Millvale home.

Funeral services for Ava Campbell are set for Friday at the Ross Community Presbyterian Church.

Travis Grayson is facing a string of charges including involuntary manslaughter, and DUI. He's in jail, on $200,000 straight bond.
