Driver Killed, Passenger Injured After Car Crashes Into House

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) – One person was killed and another was injured when a car crashed into a home in Hempfield Township.

It happened around 3:45 a.m. on Skidmore Road.

It's unclear what caused the car to go into the house, but the driver was killed and a passenger in the car was taken to an area hospital.

The driver has since been identified as 19-year-old Aaron Koring, who lives on the same road.

Police say they don't know why Koring crossed the center line on the road, going nearly 150 feet in the front yard before hitting the house.

A 94-year-old woman who lives in the house was home when it happened, but was not injured. She says it's the second time a car has hit her home.

The car early Saturday morning took out a mailbox, gas meter, lamp, fence and knocked the porch off of the foundation.

"The car was up against the porch," said neighbor Gerald Hayes.

The accident is being investigated by state police.
