Donald Trump Campaigns In Moon Twp., Calls Out Ben Roethlisberger

MOON TWP. (KDKA) -- Donald Trump campaigned in Moon Township Saturday.

The presumptive Republican nominee landed at Atlantic Aviation off of I-376 around 3:30 p.m.

The visit was branded the "Trump Rally For National Training Day & Volunteer Registration."

People were out in droves, braving the hot sun to see Trump speak.

"I'm here to see Donald Trump, I think he's gonna do the right thing for the United States and put people back to work," Carl Weinman said.

KDKA's Jon Delano asked supporters if they believed he could win Pennsylvania.

"Yes, I think being in the Rust Belt, Pennsylvania needs some support to bring business back to the area, and he has one of the best bottom lines -- how to recreate jobs," said Helen Zeppenfeld.

As for accusations of racism, several supporters rejected that idea completely, and praised Trump for his candor.

"I just like how he tells it like it is, being politically correct is what brought our nation down, but now he talks about whatever," said one supporter.

The presidential candidate gave a fairly routine speech filled with references to Pittsburgh.

"Pittsburgh--you got wiped out folks, I hate to say it but you got wiped out, manufacturing is way down, steel is way down," Trump said. "Call me old fashioned, but I love steel."

He also referenced his alleged support from "Big Ben," Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

"I love Big Ben, do we love Big Ben, I just spoke to him, he's a great guy, and he's with us 100 percent," Trump said.

However, according to Ed Bouchette with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger is "staying out of the political game" and will not endorse or speak for the candidate.

Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.
