Deep Doo-Doo: Man Rolls In Dog Poop To Try Avoiding Arrest

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man is in deep doo-doo after police say he rolled around in dog doo-doo to avoid arrest.

Police in Wilkes-Barre say Maurice Franklin dropped to the ground and floundered in the waste as they attempted to arrest him Monday on suspicion of public intoxication.

The Times Leader reports the 45-year-old Franklin told officers they couldn't arrest him because he was covered in poop.

Police say officers started following Franklin when he jumped into traffic and appeared under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

They say he slurred his words, had trouble standing without swaying and claimed he walked erratically to avoid dog feces on the sidewalk.

Franklin's charged with public drunkenness. Online court records don't list a court date or a lawyer to comment on the charges.
