Woman killed, man critically injured in McKeesport shooting
A woman died, and a man was critically injured in a shooting in McKeesport on Sunday night, the Allegheny County Police Department said.
Police were notified of the shooting in the 500 block of Pirl Street around 8:48 p.m. on Sunday. First responders found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds at McKeesport Steelview Manor.
The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, county police said. She was later identified as 50-year-old Lisa Epps.
The man was hospitalized and last listed in critical condition. His identity was not immediately known.
The flashing lights were gone on Monday, but questions and fear remained at McKeesport Steelview Manor as the investigation continues.
"I was shaking," one witness told KDKA. "I've never been that close to a shooting. We need security in our building."
KDKA was told that Epps did not live at the apartment building. She was at the complex on Sunday visiting her partner.
It was not immediately known what led up to the shooting or if there were any suspects, though police believe the victims were targeted. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
"We have a lot of people that are older that don't want to come out at night because of all the activity," one resident said on Monday.
