Death of child found at Harrison Township home under investigation

The death of a child found at a home in Harrison Township is under investigation.

Allegheny County police said they're investigating the death of a child on Pine near Center. Police haven't released any other details about the child, but it was still an active scene on Wednesday evening.

The call came in around 12:15 p.m. for Harrison Township police to respond to a home. It wasn't long before county police were requested to the scene and their crime scene truck showed up.

For hours, KDKA-TV saw detectives walking in and out of the home, trying to collect as much evidence as they could.

Haley Kish, the child's aunt, said the girl was 3 years old. She said the girl's parents gave her a Ziploc bag of popcorn at night, and she had put the bag on her head like a hat and fell asleep. This morning, they woke up to find the bag over her face.

Kish said her niece was sassy and energetic.

"She was full of life, like I said, she was a character," Kish said. "She loved dress-up, specifically Halloween, specifically spooky things. She loved all things spooky. She was actually already planning her Halloween costume for next year, like she was the epitome of a girl's girl."

County police would only confirm that they're investigating.
