Six Horses Seized In Dayton, Pa. In Animal Neglect Case
DAYTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- Six horses were removed from a property after reports they were being starved.
According to the Armstrong County District Attorney's Office, the horses were removed in a collaborative effort between Whiskey Acres Sanctuary, Second Chance Equine Association, and Rory Ridge Rescue.
"I am truly grateful for the collaboration and cooperation of all involved," said Armstrong County District Attorney Katie M. Charlton in a statement. "It should be noted that the owner of the property where the horses were located is not the owner of the horses."
When the horses were found they were just skin and bones and in grave danger.
The Armstrong District Attorney's Office is planning to file charges against the owner.
"As Armstrong County is a rural county, my office takes such situations very seriously and appreciates the cooperation of all involved, as this is how a strong case for charges in animal cruelty investigations is built," added Charlton. "It is important in these situations that the laws and procedures are followed in order to protect the integrity of the charges so that individuals responsible may be held to account."
