Daniel McCoy: Paralympic Gold Medal Biggest Achievement of Career

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The United States sled hockey team won gold at the Paralympics in Sochi. A member of that team was Daniel McCoy, a Pittsburgh native and a student at the University of Pittsburgh.

McCoy told Tab Douglas and Stacy Kauffman that despite numerous achievements in sled hockey, the gold medal takes the cake.

"It's the biggest achievement of my career," McCoy said. "It's been a goal for me for such a long time that finally having achieved it, it's pretty surreal. It still hasn't hit me totally what really happened."

McCoy attended the Pens-Lightning game on Saturday, where he was recognized. McCoy said that he's still getting used to all of the attention.

"A lot of people were coming up to me in the game and saying that how much of an inspiration everything I was doing was," McCoy said. "I really didn't see it as that. I just see it as just me playing a sport that I love and giving it my all. It's great to have the support of everyone."
