'Dance Moms' Star Abby Lee Miller Reports To Federal Prison

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- Former "Dance Moms" star Abby Lee Miller reported to federal prison today.

She was originally supposed to report to the prison in California two weeks ago, but her surrender date was pushed back.

Miller arrived to the prison nearly two hours before her 2 p.m. deadline.

Miller is sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for bankruptcy fraud and for smuggling Australian currency into the United States without reporting it.

She will be serving her time at a penitentiary in Victorville, Calif.

Back in May, a federal judge in Pittsburgh also ordered Miller to pay a $40,000 fine and spend two years on probation following her release.

Miller pleaded guilty in both cases last year.

She's best known for her reality show "Dance Moms," which started in a small studio in Penn Hills.

Lifetime TV was with Miller when she reported to prison, to document the process.

Miller says she plans on treating her prison stay like a movie shoot.

"I'll just have me to concentrate on, and that's different, I've always put everybody's child first before my own health so I think this will be a little me time."
