"Daddio Of The Raddio" Porky Chedwick Dies

PITTSBURHG (KDKA) – The "Daddio of the Raddio" has signed off for a final time.

Porky Chedwick, a legend on Pittsburgh's radio waves for years, has died.

He passed away Sunday morning and had been hospitalized recently for surgery.

Last month, he celebrated his 96th birthday on the North Shore.

His career started in Pittsburgh back in 1948, when he went on air in Homestead at the station known as WAMO.

He made a name for himself, introducing the area to R&B and rock 'n' roll with soul.

Porky's broadcasts are so legendary that you can hear recordings of them played at the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
