Curtain Falls On Beaver County's Last Independent Movie House

BEAVER COUNTY (KDKA) - The curtain has fallen on Beaver County's last independent movie house.

The Ambridge Family Theatre has closed for good.

The owners of the movie house posted a message on Facebook about the closing.

They said, "Our equipment finally, after 40-plus years, has just worn out. There are no replacement parts available. This is not the way we wanted things to happen. We are heartbroken about the situation."

The single-screen theater opened in 1969.

People are already taking to the company's Facebook page to mourn the theater's loss.

The owners say they will put the building up for sale and see what happens.
