Crime Stoppers: Surveillance Camera Catches Attempted Burglar In Action

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are looking for a suspect seen on surveillance video casing apartment buildings in the city's in Oakland section.

It happened in the 400-block of North Neville Street.

Pittsburgh Police Sgt. William Vollburg says the attempted break-in took place last month during the middle of the day.

The suspect tries to break into a first-floor apartment through a window with an air conditioner, but the woman who lives in the apartment was home.

When she heard the commotion, police say she came into the room, saw the suspect in the window and let out a scream. The thief then ran off.

Investigators describe the suspect as a black male in his 30s, about 5-feet-10-inches tall.

Sgt. Vollburg said people who live on the first or second floor of an apartment should always secure air conditioners, so they can't be pushed through the window, giving the burglar easy access to the home or apartment.
