One Person Killed, Another In Critical Condition Following Multi-Vehicle Accident In South Side Slopes

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person was killed and two others were hospitalized following a head-on collision in Pittsburgh's South Side Slopes neighborhood.

The accident took place at 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of S. 18th Street and Crossman Street involving a minivan and a cement truck.

The two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, and the minivan then struck a third parked vehicle.

The driver of the cement truck was able to get out of the vehicle on his own. He was then transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the minivan was pulled from the vehicle by paramedics and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

A passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police announced that S. 18th Street was closed in both directions just before 8:00 a.m.

Pittsburgh Public Safety's Collision Investigation Unit arrived to process the scene and will determine the cause of the accident.
