Crews Fight Suspicious Fire In Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY (KDKA) -- Emergency crews battled what officials say is a suspicious fire at a home in Lawrence County early Sunday morning.

The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. at a vacant home in the 1600-block of West Lawrence Avenue near Ellwood City. Wayne Township fire chief Wes Cunningham said the fire began on the side porch of the home, and he does consider it to be suspicious.

Neighbors say the previous tenants just moved out a week ago, and while they were in the process of moving, the home was vandalized. Rocks were thrown at the windows, and the neighbor reportedly heard someone firing shots from a shotgun.

No one was reported to be injured.
