Crews Battle Overnight Fires In McCandless, North Side, Brookline

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It was a busy night for firefighters as they battled three separate fires, one in Ross Township and the other two in the city.

In Ross Township, one person had to be treated when a two-alarm fire broke out in the basement of a McCandless home.

It happened just before 1 a.m. in the 9000-block of Perry Knoll Avenue.

The family was able to get out, but one person was evaluated for a breathing problem.

No word yet on the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, in the city, the second floor of a home in the Spring Hill neighborhood of the North Side sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. along Firth Street.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is under investigation.

The third fire broke out in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood.

The one-alarm fire in the 2000-block of Pioneer Avenue was quickly put out around 2 a.m.

There were people inside the house, but everyone got out safely.

No word on a cause of that fire either.
