Fire Destroys House In Cecil Township

CECIL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) --- Fire destroyed a house in Cecil Township, Washington County early Thursday morning.
Firefighters were called to the house in the 400 block of Cardinal Drive around 2:35 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, the flames were already so intense they were unable to enter the structure.
In addition to the flames, firefighters also had to battle the snowy and cold conditions.
"It makes everything harder. You can see the hydrant's at the bottom of the hill. We're coming up to the top of the hill. We're lucky it warmed a little bit so we're not slipping and sliding on this hard pack surface here," Cecil Township VFC No. 1 Chief William Cass said. "And I just can't say enough about all the volunteers and all the support we had."
Everyone inside was able to escape safely. No injuries were reported.
The fire chief said he thinks a wood stove may have started the fire.
