Crews Battle Fire In The Hill District

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A broken flashlight may have started a fire that damaged an apartment building in the Hill District Saturday morning.

It happened at a building in the 500-block of Francis Street.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a 10-year-old boy was playing with the flashlight under a bed when it broke and reportedly set a comforter on fire.

The boy's grandmother got the kids out of the house and helped evacuate three other units.

Firefighters say the building's construction kept the flames from spreading.

Crews were reportedly able to bring the flames under control before noon.
