MANOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) --- A sports bar and pizza shop were destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning in Armstrong County.

Firefighters were first called to the building on Hill Street in Manor Township around 3:15 a.m.

"When our first unit arrived on scene they had fire blowing out of the side of the roof," Manor Township Assistant Fire Chief Matt Klingensmith said. "The fire had a real good head start on us."

There was a close call for some of the first firefighters on the scene, who sensed trouble and got out before the roof of the building collapsed.

"When they got to where the bulk of the fire was at, the conditions were hot and smoky and they didn't feel comfortable," Klingensmith. "So, they backed out. No sooner did they back out then it blew through the roof, and I would say within 5 minutes the roof had come down."

The fire was still burning more than an hour later.

The building houses two businesses, a sports bar on the second floor and a pizza shop on the lower level. Klingensmith said the fire started in the area of an upstairs kitchen. The building is a total loss.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

The owner has insurance, but is not sure if he'll rebuild his businesses.
