Crews Battle 4-Alarm Fire At Lawrenceville Business

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Fire crews were called to a business in the city's Lawrenceville section late Wednesday night.

According to emergency officials, the fire started around 10:12 p.m. in the 100-block of 48th Street at the McConway & Torley Railcar Corporation.

By 10:45 p.m., the fire was reported at four-alarms. The extra manpower was called in due to the shear size of the building.

Less than 50 employees were working inside the business at the time of the fire. They were all evacuated from the building.

A crane operator was transported to West Penn Hospital by paramedics. The worker is in stable condition with minor injuries, including a cut to the hand.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The Hazmat team was called to the fire due to the presence of hydraulic fluid inside the business.

There's no word yet on what sparked the fire.
