HAYS (KDKA) - Nearly 200 residents woke up without power Thursday morning after two utility poles fell to the ground following crashes along Mifflin Road in Hays.

Duquesne Light crews worked throughout the night to repair the two poles and restore power to the affected customers.

Witness Kelsey Salerno said she heard one car crash into the pole across from her house on Slate Street just before midnight.

"I heard a really loud bang and then I saw a flash of light when the transformer went out," said Salerno.

Just a half-mile down the road, neighbors heard a second crash near the intersection of Mifflin Road and Broome Street.

At this time, Pittsburgh Police have not confirmed if these were two separate crashes in close time and proximity, or just one out-of-control driver. KDKA-TV cameras only spotted one car wrecked at the second scene.

According to emergency dispatchers, one person was taken the hospital.

Duquesne Light restored power to affected customers by 10 a.m. .

There is no word yet on the condition of the person taken to the hospital, or if any charges will be filed.
