1 Dead, 4 Injured In North Strabane Twp. Crash

NORTH STRABANE TWP. (KDKA) -- Crews were called Saturday afternoon to the scene of a crash in North Strabane Township.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of Route 19 and Route 519.

Police say a white Dodge Neon traveling southbound on Route 19 crossed the median, striking a red minivan that was headed northbound.

One of the people in the Dodge Neon was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second person was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital in critical condition.

The Washington County Coroner later identified the deceased as 20-year-old Elizabeth Paige Bright of Monongahela. Officials say she was unrestrained in the passenger seat.

Three people were in the red minivan. They were all taken to Canonsburg General Hospital with minor injuries.

Route 19 was closed in both directions for several hours.
