Coroner: Pa. Contractor Dies After Scaffolding Gives Way

DOVER, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a self-employed contractor died after falling from a house he was working on in Pennsylvania.

The York County Coroner's Office says 62-year-old Merle Shirley died Wednesday when scaffolding he was working on in Dover Township gave way, sending the self-employed contractor two stories to the ground.

The Dallastown man was pronounced dead just after 5:30 p.m. with what authorities are calling severe head and spinal injuries. The death has been ruled an accident.
