Family Wants Answers After Bicyclist Hit & Killed On Route 51

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) – A man who was hit and killed while riding his bicycle in Beaver County Friday night has been identified.

According to police, the accident happened just after 7 p.m. on Route 51 near the West Aliquippa Bridge.

According to Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi, the victim has been identified as Taylor Lee Banks, 23, of Braddock.

Banks was traveling north on Route 51 when he was hit by another vehicle.

Tatalovich-Rossi said Banks died of blunt force trauma to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Banks' father and brother have been pleading for answers since it happened.

"I just think something is wrong, I know something is wrong," said Banks' father Gary. "Why so long? We deserve answers why."

Banks was riding his bike home from his job at the Subway in Aliquippa, to his mother's house in Rochester.

His father is asking for details on how his son was killed. Gary Banks wants to know if it was a hit and run accident, or if he was hit by a drunk driver, and if that driver stopped.

"Not knowing if he laid and suffered, if they stopped and offered assistance and not just take off, that's what I really want to know," Gary said.

Aliquippa Police are investigating, but no other details have been released at this time.

One thing they do know is that Taylor was an experienced cyclist who once pedaled from Beaver all the way to Westmoreland County.
