Police Investigate Lower Burrell Murder-Suicide

LOWER BURRELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Two people are dead in what is being called a murder-suicide in Westmoreland County Thursday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the shooting happened in the 100-block of Clinton Avenue in Lower Burrell Township shortly before 8 a.m.

Police were initially called to the home by a concerned relative.

Neighbors saw several of the family pets being removed.

"Nice quiet couple, I mean, that's really all I – we would talk when they were out in the yard and stuff, but I don't know. It just seems odd. They're saying it's a murder-suicide," Cindy Thompson, a neighbor, said. "There was never [any] commotion or anything over there."

The victims have been identified as 42-year-old Leanne McDade and 45-year-old Mark McDade.

Police say Mark McDade shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.

The couple had been married for nearly 20-years.
