Copperhead Snake Bit Worker On West Virginia Capitol Campus
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia officials say a copperhead snake bit a worker on the state Capitol complex.
Division of Highways spokeswoman Carrie Jones says a memo was sent to Building 5 employees Thursday about the incident.
The memo says that during the snake encounter, the temporary employee was exiting the fire escape door near Building 7. The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Jones says the employee was treated and released, and the snake is dead.
The memo says officials have been made aware of a couple of snake sightings, including in the parking lot. The memo advised people who encounter snakes to contact Protective Services at (304) 558-9911.
