Constables Who Dragged Cuffed Woman Removed From Office

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania district attorney's office says two constables who handcuffed a woman and dragged her out of her home by her legs over an unpaid parking ticket will be removed from office.

A spokesman for the Allegheny District Attorney's Office in Pittsburgh said Monday that a judge granted their petitions to remove Michael Lowman and Christian Constantini from office.

Constantini ran for constable in November and won. The judge set aside that election and ruled that Lowman cannot pursue reappointment as a deputy constable.

Constantini was sentenced in December to serve three years of probation. Lowman was sentenced to serve four years of supervision. The judge had convicted the men of simple assault, reckless endangerment, official oppression and conspiracy.

The attorney representing both men says they're appealing their convictions.
