Community Holds Vigil For Boy, 2, On Life-Support After Near-Drowning

CANONSBURG (KDKA) - A community is coming together for a 2-year-old boy on life-support.

Last week, the child nearly drowned in his family's swimming pool.

Last night, people gathered to show support for Dean Gillum.

The 2-year-old was found face down in his family's backyard swimming pool. He was rushed to Children's Hospital, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit, on life-support.

The family is hoping for a complete miracle and i believe that miracles do happen," Jennifer Yoon said.

While family, friends, even strangers continue to rely on the power of prayer, Dean's parents, Laura and Paul, haven't left their son's side.

Paul recently posted several videos of little Dean on his Facebook page.

Late Tuesday night, he wrote this message:

"To everyone who had my son, Dean, on their minds through his recovery: I want to say thank you, but I have said thank you to the point that it seems empty. There are no words or actions that can be said or done to show the gratitude, compassion, friendship, and love that my wife and I feel towards everyone. God bless you all."

"I think the further hope is that other people see this story and continue to know the importance of prayer and supporting one another," Yoon said.
