Community Comes Together To Support Owner Of West End Donut Shop

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The community is coming together, after a van crashed into a West End donut shop Wednesday.

The owner of Better Maid on Steuben Street is getting more help than he could have imagined after losing his business yesterday.

A driver plowed a van right into the side of the donut shop.

The owner, Ken Smith, was worried he would have to close up shop for good, until neighbors came to his aid.

Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith tells KDKA that city leaders will meet with Smith today to help with the rebuilding process.

A student from Bishop Canevin High School has also started a "Go-Fund-Me" page to help with costs.

And the owner of Grandview Bakery in Mt. Washington has offered to let Smith work out of her bakery in the Interim.
