Community Calls For Change At Vigil One Week After Wilkinsburg Shooting

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- One week after four women, a man and an unborn child died in a mass shooting in Wilkinsburg, there was a vigil Wednesday night near the shooting scene.

Organizer Candace King-Williams says police can't solve every crime alone; they need help from people who live in the community.

"It's the police's job to protect and serve, but how can they serve if we don't give them something to serve?" Williams said. "It's time for the [police-community] relationship to change."

Some of those attending the rally have themselves lost loved ones to gun violence.

Pastor Brian Wright Sr., of Pittsburgh, lost two sons to shootings.

Wright said a prayer asking that the Lord "fill this place with healing."

Allegheny County Police are leaving no stone unturned in the investigation, but so far, even a $20,000 reward offered by the ATF has not led to any arrests in the case.
