Chris Stewart: I Want This Staff To Trust Me

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pirates catcher Chris Stewart joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Thursday to chat with the guys after getting the game-winning RBI in the Pirates' 4-1 win over the Brewers Wednesday night.

"I wouldn't say I had it all the way," Stewart said of the hit off Francisco Rodriguez. "I was confident in what I was doing up there. Fortunately, he left a changeup up and I was able to get a good enough swing on it and drive it back up the middle."

He told the guys that Pirates starter Francisco Liriano had a solid performance in the game.

"Everything was great last night," Stewart said. "I think he had a much better feel of his offspeed pitches than he had in the past couple games. His slider was real good both sides of the plate, his changeup was back where it needed to be, down and on the outer part of the zone, and he was able to throw his fastball in and out, and kind of keep them off-balance. He just kind of set the tone for the way he should be throwing, and hopefully he takes that into his next start and on through the rest of the season. "

"That's my number one goal, to try to get familiar with the guys out there," Stewart said. "I want them during game-to-game to trust me, and I need to trust them. I have to know what they can do in certain situations."
