A 27-year-old man was driving the Ford Ranger.

Police say he remained at the scene after the accident and did not appear to be intoxicated.

Nicole Smith was sitting at a nearby red light with her boyfriend, Anthony Christopher, and saw the accident.

"The scariest thing I've ever seen in my life," Smith said. "As they were walking across, the [boy] started to run a little bit, and it turned green right as he was darting towards the other side."

"He got a little too far away, and the guy just clipped him with the corner of his truck," Christopher said.

Christopher says he immediately ran over to help.

"I held the kid's head up. I know you ain't supposed to touch him, but I was holding his head to the side because he was gasping for air and he couldn't breathe," he said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on this accident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tipline at 1-833-255-8477.
