Charged Norwin Teacher's Husband To Stand Trial For Witness Intimidation
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The husband of a Norwin School District teacher, who is charged with selling heroin, will stand trial for trying to intimidate the informant in the case.
Marc Rodnicki waived his preliminary hearing in court on Wednesday.
Arriving at District Magistrate Douglas Weimer's office, Rodnicki didn't have anything to say.
His wife, Lisa Rodnicki, is accused of selling 45 bags of heroin to a confidential informant last month. The drugs had a price tag of $350.
Days after her arrest, police picked up her husband. Police say he figured out who the confidential informant in his wife's case was and allegedly tried to have him assaulted.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Rodnicki's husband allegedly arranged to have a third party set up a meeting with the informant. Marc planned to wait at a predetermined location for the informant to show up.
The affidavit of probable cause goes on to report that Marc said when the informant arrived, he would allegedly be able to [expletive] him or her up. The third party told Marc he didn't want to be involved.
Marc Rodnicki is facing numerous felony charges, including witness intimidation and solicitation to commit assault. He also faces two drug-related charges.
He is being held on $110,000 bond.
Rodnicki's attorney asked for a bond reduction. But the judge said no given Rodnicki's charges and past criminal record.
Lisa Rodnicki, however, remains free on $7,5000 bond awaiting her May preliminary hearing.
