Central Pa. Man Charged In Boy's Apparent Overdose Death

NORTHUMBERLAND, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania man is charged with child endangerment after police say a 9-year-old boy died of an overdose.

Point Township Police said in the arrest affidavit for 58-year-old Victor Hare that the boy's death on Monday occurred while he was staying in a Northumberland home with Hare that contained oxycontin, oxycodone, marijuana and alcohol.

Police say Hare told them the boy had a drug and alcohol problem. Hare says he performed CPR for about 40 minutes.

Hare's also charged with illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. He's in the county jail with bail at $290,000.

Court officials say Hare doesn't have a lawyer on file.

Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn says there's no medical reason for the boy's death. He's awaiting test results and further investigation.
