CBS Analyst Boomer Esiason: "I Am Picking The Browns"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- CBS Sports NFL Today Studio Analyst Boomer Esiason joined The Cook and Poni Show on Friday to talk about the Steelers/ Browns game on Sunday in Cleveland.

The guys asked if it were true that he was picking the Browns in this game.

"I am," Esiason said. "This is an opportunity for the Browns to do what I would like to think Browns fans feel like they need to do and that is to legitimize who they are this year."

Esiason calls this a measuring stick game for the Browns who have already lost division games to both the Steelers and Ravens earlier this year.

He really likes the story that Browns QB Brian Hoyer is writing this year. He has dealt with coming back from an injury, another new coaching staff and dealing with the drafting of Johnny Manziel.

"I would like to think that the Cleveland Browns would invest their future in him," Esiason said. "Because he has shown me something here 'cause he is fighting two battles, The one battle is the Johnny Manziel freaks out there and the other one is trying to get his team over the hump and make them a legitimate playoff contender which is why this game is so important for them at home."

Esiason said this Steelers offense has a chance to do great things this year but they may want to take a page out of their old playbook and get back to what the Steelers do best and run the ball.

"Don't ever leave who you are. Don't ever leave your identity," Esiason said. "Maybe last week they were trying to get too aggressive and they are trying to get Ben touchdown passes and I get all of that but go back to what has brought you here and what has made your franchise a success and that's where running the ball down in the red zone is not a bad thing these days."

Esiason expects a tight battle like when these two teams meant in the season opener but he likes the Browns to win this one.
