Carjacking At Pittsburgh International Airport Under Investigation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A reported carjacking at the Pittsburgh International Airport is under investigation.

According to police, the incident happened around 1:15 a.m. near the arrival area.

Two Nepalese men were at Doug's Den in Carrick until 12:45 a.m. That's when they left to go pick up their uncles who were flying in from Colorado.

"They picked up the two uncles who got into the rear of the vehicle. They then got out to open up the trunk of the vehicle. When they opened up the trunk, the actors got out," Lt. Tom Lanachione said.

A white male allegedly flashed a silver handgun and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The rear passengers were ordered out of the vehicle as the suspects got in and took off.

The victims said the other suspect, an African-American man, also flashed a black handgun during the incident.

The white male suspect is described as being about 5-feet-5-inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded-sweatshirt and black pants.

The African-American male suspect is described as being about 5-feet-10-inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts with a white stripe and black shoes.

Police believe this was an isolated situation that won't repeat itself.

"I do want to reiterate the public is in no danger at the airport. The airport is an extremely safe environment that's well patrolled and protected," Lt. Lanachione said.

No one was injured in the incident.

The vehicle is a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and has a Pennsylvania license plate of JLY- 3519.
