Homewood Carjacking & Chase Ends In Crash

HOMEWOOD (KDKA)- Police from multiple jurisdictions were involved in an overnight chase that ended with a crash in Homewood.

It all started with a carjacking around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

A woman says she was carjacked at gunpoint in the 1000-block of Silverdale Street.

Police noticed the stolen SUV and started chasing it. The chase involved Penn Hills, Forest Hills and Swissvale police officers. The SUV ended up crashing into a tree along Perchment Street at Blackador Avenue.

Three juveniles in the vehicle ran from the scene. Police caught the two males and one female a short time later and recovered a small gun that had been reported stolen.

A 15-year-old male passenger faces charges of robbery of a motor vehicle, firearms not to be carried without a license and possession of marijuana.

Forest Hills Police arrested the driver, but the juvenile female was released.

Names of the suspects were not released.
